Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was born in Gdańsk, Poland in 1686. He was a physicist and inventor, and is best known for his work on the mercury thermometer, which he invented in 1714. Fahrenheit also developed the Fahrenheit scale of temperature, which is still used in some countries today.
