Tegel Prison was located in the Tegel district of Berlin, Germany. It was built in the early 20th century and originally used as a military prison. After World War II, it was used by the East German government as a political prison. In 1990, after the reunification of Germany, it was converted into a prison for common criminals. Tegel Prison was closed in 2010 and demolished in 2014.
