Dietrich Bonhoeffer died on April 9, 1945. Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, and anti-Nazi dissident. He was a member of the Confessing Church, a movement within the German Protestant Church that opposed the Nazi regime. Bonhoeffer was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943 and imprisoned in Tegel Prison. He was later transferred to Flossenbürg Concentration Camp, where he was executed.
