Don Mattingly played his rookie season in 1983. He was drafted in the first round of the 1982 Major League Baseball draft by the New York Yankees. He made his major league debut on April 19, 1983, and went on to play for the Yankees for 14 seasons. He was a five-time All-Star, a two-time World Series champion, and the American League MVP in 1985.
