Don Young won a seat in the Alaska House of Representatives in 1966. Young was born in 1933 in Meridian, Idaho. He moved to Alaska in 1958 and worked as a radio announcer. In 1966, he was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives. He served in the House for six years before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1973. He has been in Congress ever since.
