Edward Carson was the leader of the Ulster Unionist Council from 1910 to 1918. He was a prominent figure in the campaign against Home Rule for Ireland, and led the Ulster Volunteers in their opposition to the Government of Ireland Act 1914. He was also a member of the British Cabinet from 1915 to 1916.
