Emperor Wen of Northern Wei (r. 423–452) was the first emperor of the Northern Wei dynasty of China. He seized the throne for himself after defeating Yuchi Jiong, the general who had been ruling the dynasty as regent for Emperor Taiwu's infant son. Emperor Wen was a strong and capable ruler who presided over a period of great prosperity and stability for the Northern Wei.
