Between April and May 1945, Swedish diplomat Folke Bernadotte managed to release 31,000 prisoners from Nazi concentration camps. He was able to do this by negotiating with the Nazis, and by using his own personal charisma and determination. Bernadotte's efforts saved the lives of thousands of people, and he is considered a hero for his work.
