Francesco Redi graduated from the University of Pisa. He was a physician, biologist and entomologist, and is considered one of the founders of the scientific method. He is best known for his experiments on spontaneous generation, which showed that maggots did not appear spontaneously on rotting meat, but were the offspring of flies.
