G.H. Hardy was not considered a self-taught mathematician, as he attended the University of Cambridge and received a degree in mathematics. He was, however, a very gifted mathematician who made significant contributions to number theory and analysis. He is best known for his work with Srinivasa Ramanujan, a self-taught mathematician who was discovered by Hardy and who went on to make major contributions to mathematics.
