Gustaf VI Adolf was born on 11 November 1882 in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of King Oscar II and Queen Sofia. He succeeded his father as king on 29 October 1907. Gustaf VI Adolf was a popular king and is credited with helping to restore the monarchy to popularity after the Swedish Revolution of 1917. He died on 15 September 1973.
