Gyanendra Shah was the King of Nepal twice. He first ascended to the throne in 2001 after the death of his nephew, King Birendra, and his family. He was overthrown in 2006 during the Nepalese Civil War, but was restored to the throne in 2007 after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
