Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud (1876-1953) was the founder of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was born in Riyadh, the son of the ruler of the Nejd region. In 1902, he led a revolt against the Ottomans and captured Riyadh. He went on to conquer most of the Arabian Peninsula, uniting it under his rule in 1932. He ruled Saudi Arabia until his death in 1953.
