Answer
Imre Nagy served as an informer for the Soviet NKVD secret police for 8 years from 1937 to 1945. This information came to light in 1956 after the Hungarian Revolution, when Nagy was briefly prime minister of Hungary. Nagy's collaboration with the NKVD was seen as a betrayal by many Hungarians, and it contributed to his downfall and eventual execution in 1958.
