Ivan Bagramyan was a Soviet Army general. He served in the Soviet Army from 1918 to 1954, and was one of the most successful Soviet commanders of World War II. He was born in a village in Armenia in 1897, and joined the Russian Army in 1915. After the Russian Revolution, he fought in the Russian Civil War, and then joined the Red Army.
