Answer

Pope Benedict IX was a controversial figure in the history of the Catholic Church. He was pope three times, from 1032 to 1045, 1047 to 1048, and 1055 to 1056. He was deposed twice, the first time by the emperor Henry III, and the second time by a council of cardinals. He is the only pope to have been deposed twice.
