Louis XVIII was the King of France from 1814 to 1824. He was the younger brother of Louis XVI, who was executed during the French Revolution. Louis XVIII was restored to the throne after Napoleon was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo. He was a conservative ruler and opposed the liberal reforms of the French Revolution. He died in 1824 and was succeeded by his brother Charles X.
