Nikola Pašić spent six years in exile in Bulgaria after he was forced to leave Serbia following the assassination of King Aleksandar Obrenović in 1903. During his time in exile, Pašić continued to play a leading role in Serbian politics, and he returned to Serbia in 1908 after the Young Turk Revolution.
