Meira Kumar has been elected to the Lok Sabha 4 times, representing the Congress Party. She was first elected in 1984 from the Bijnor constituency, Uttar Pradesh, and served as a Member of Parliament until 1989. She was then re-elected in 1991, 1996, and 2004, from the same constituency. In 2010, she was appointed as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, and served in this position until 2014.
