Michael the Brave was a Romanian nobleman who led a rebellion against the Ottoman Empire and united Wallachia, Moldavia and Transylvania. After being defeated at the Battle of Mirăslău in 1595, Michael retreated to Wallachia where he regrouped his forces and continued his fight for independence.
