Ngô Đình Diệm was born on 3 January 1901 in Buôn Ma Thuột, French Cochinchina. He was a Vietnamese politician who served as the first President of South Vietnam from 7 May 1955 to 2 November 1963. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and a staunch anti-Communist.
