Nguyễn Văn Thiệu served as the president of South Vietnam from 1967 to 1975. He was a military officer who rose to prominence during the Vietnam War. Thiệu was a staunch anti-communist and supported the war effort against North Vietnam. He was also a controversial figure, and was accused of corruption and human rights abuses. Thiệu was forced to resign in 1975 after the North Vietnamese army captured Saigon.
