Nguyễn Văn Thiệu was born on 5 April 1923 in Phan Rang, French Indochina. He was a South Vietnamese politician and general who served as the President of South Vietnam from 1965 to 1975. During his time in office, he presided over the Vietnam War, which ended in the fall of Saigon and the reunification of Vietnam under communist rule.
