Louis IX, also known as Saint Louis, was the king of France from 1226 to 1270. He was the son of Philip II and Isabella of Hainault. Louis IX was a devout Christian and is considered to be one of the most pious kings of France. He led several crusades to the Holy Land and died in Tunis during the Eighth Crusade.
