Pulcheria was a 4th-century Byzantine empress. She was the older sister of Theodosius II, the emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire from 408 to 450. Pulcheria became the guardian of her younger brother at the age of 15. She played an important role in his reign, and was responsible for the introduction of Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire.
