Jean Lannes was a French marshal who served as a corps commander under Napoleon in the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He fought in many of Napoleon's most important battles, including the Battle of Austerlitz, where he led the French troops that defeated the Russian forces under Bagration. Lannes was also present at the Battle of Waterloo, where he was mortally wounded.
