Constance Markievicz served as Teachta Dála for Dublin South constituency for six years. She was first elected in 1918, but she did not take her seat in the Dáil Éireann until 1921, after the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. She was re-elected in 1922, but she resigned her seat in 1927 in protest of the Free State's treatment of republicans.
