Roman von Ungern-Sternberg was born on 10 January 1886 in Graz, Austria-Hungary. He was a Russian military officer and adventurer who led a campaign against the Bolsheviks in Mongolia from 1921 to 1922. He was eventually captured and executed by the Red Army.
