Roza Otunbayeva is the Special Representative for Afghanistan of the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. She was appointed to the position in September 2021. Otunbayeva is a former president of Kyrgyzstan and a prominent women's rights activist. She has been a vocal critic of the Taliban and has called for the international community to do more to support the Afghan people.
