Elizabeth of Austria was the first wife of Sigismund II Augustus, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. Their marriage was arranged by Sigismund's father, King Sigismund I the Old, in order to strengthen ties between Poland and the Habsburg Empire. Elizabeth was the daughter of Emperor Ferdinand I and Anna of Bohemia and Hungary. The marriage took place in 1543 and lasted until Elizabeth's death in 1545.
