Conrad II was the elder son of Henry IV and his first wife, Bertha of Savoy. He rebelled against his father in 1081, and the conflict lasted until 1088, when Henry IV was forced to abdicate. Conrad II then became king of Germany, and he ruled until his death in 1105.
