Sophie of France, born in 1787, was the 1st daughter of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. She and her family were imprisoned in the Tuileries Palace during the French Revolution, where she witnessed the execution of her parents. In 1795, she was released and exiled to Austria, eventually marrying her cousin Louis, Duc d'Angoulême, in 1799.
