Ahmed Ben Bella was the first Prime Minister of Algeria. He served in this position from 1962 to 1965. During his time in office, he oversaw the independence of Algeria from France and the establishment of the Algerian state. He was also responsible for the nationalization of the oil industry and the implementation of a number of social reforms.
