Joseph Cao served in the U.S. Congress for two years, from 2009 to 2011. He was the first Vietnamese American elected to Congress, representing Louisiana's 2nd congressional district. During his time in office, Cao served on the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. He was also a member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.
