Answer
Emilia Plater was a Polish noblewoman and soldier who fought in the 1830–1831 Polish Uprising. After her death, her likeness was modeled after Joan of Arc, the French heroine who led the French army against the English in the Hundred Years' War. Both Plater and Joan of Arc were young women who defied social conventions to fight for their countries' independence.
