Yitzhak Rabin attained the rank of Rav Aluf in his soldier career. This is the highest military rank in Israel and is equivalent to a field marshal in other countries. Rabin was a decorated war hero and served as the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces from 1964 to 1968. He later served as Prime Minister of Israel from 1974 to 1977 and again from 1992 to 1995.
