Yonatan Netanyahu was the only Israeli Defence Forces fatality during Operation Entebbe, a 1976 rescue mission in Uganda that freed over 100 hostages taken from an Air France flight. Netanyahu, a Sayeret Matkal commander, was killed during the raid when he led a team of soldiers to storm the building where the hostages were being held.
