Paul Ludwig von Hertling passed away in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. He was a German statesman who served as Chancellor of Germany from 1917 to 1918. He was a member of the Catholic Centre Party and was a supporter of the monarchy. He was also a strong opponent of the Treaty of Versailles. Hertling died of pneumonia in Munich on 4 January 1919 at the age of 69.
