Roger Mortimer was a powerful English nobleman and soldier who was executed for treason in 1330. He was the first Earl of March and the son of Edward II's former queen, Isabella. Mortimer was a key figure in the overthrow of Edward II and the accession of his son, Edward III. He was also responsible for the murder of Edward II in 1327.
