Isabella I of Castile was born in 1451. She was the daughter of John II of Castile and Isabella of Portugal. John II was a weak king, and Isabella's mother was the real power behind the throne. She arranged for Isabella to marry Ferdinand of Aragon, and the two of them eventually ruled over a united Spain.
