Answer
Mauri Pacific was a splinter group of the New Zealand First party that aided Jenny Shipley's government. The group was formed in 1996 by former New Zealand First MPs Tuariki Delamere and Peter Tapsell, who were both dissatisfied with the direction of the party under the leadership of Winston Peters. Mauri Pacific's main goal was to promote Maori interests, and the group supported Shipley's government in exchange for policy concessions.
