Lysimachus was a Macedonian king who ruled Thrace, Asia Minor and Macedon after the death of Alexander the Great. He was a successful general and politician, and was able to maintain control of his territories despite the challenges of the time. He was eventually defeated by Seleucus I Nicator, and his kingdom was divided up between his successors.
