Answer
Lysimachus hailed from Thessaly, a region of Greece. He was a Macedonian general and one of the Diadochi, or successors of Alexander the Great. Lysimachus ruled Thrace and Macedonia, and he was one of the most powerful Diadochi in the early 3rd century BC. He was eventually defeated by Seleucus I Nicator, another Diadochi, and killed in battle in 281 BC.
