Lysimachus was born in 360 BC in Thrace. He was a Macedonian general and later king of Thrace and Macedonia. He was one of the Diadochi, or generals of Alexander the Great, who fought over the remains of Alexander's empire after his death. Lysimachus was eventually defeated by Seleucus I Nicator in 281 BC and killed in the battle.
