Philip of Swabia was the King of Germany from 1198 to 1208. He was a member of the Hohenstaufen dynasty and was the son of Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa. Philip was elected King of Germany in 1198 after the death of his father. He was opposed by Otto IV of Brunswick, who was also elected King of Germany. Philip and Otto fought a series of battles for control of Germany.
