At the age of 15, Pulcheria held the position of Augusta, which was the highest-ranking title a woman could hold in the Roman Empire. This position gave her control over all women in the empire and made her second only to the emperor himself. Pulcheria used her position to promote Christianity and to help her brother, Theodosius II, rule the empire.
