Edward the Elder was the king of the Anglo-Saxons, a people who lived in what is now England. He was the son of King Alfred the Great, and he ruled from 899 to 924. During his reign, he conquered much of what is now Wales and Scotland, and he also made peace with the Danes, who had been invading England for many years.
