Ahmed Zewail was a prominent Egyptian-American scientist and chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999 for his work on femtochemistry. Zewail was a professor of chemistry at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) from 1976 to 2011, where he held the Linus Pauling Chair Professorship in Chemistry.
