Xuanzang was born in Henan Province, China. He was a famous Buddhist monk, traveler, and translator. He traveled to India in 629 CE to learn about Buddhism, and stayed there for 17 years. He translated many Buddhist texts into Chinese, and his work helped to spread Buddhism in China.
